This paper attempts to compare Hegel's concept of Spirit and Tang Chun-yi's concept of Mind ( 心靈 ). Both concepts are on the one hand the most important concepts in their systems, on the other hand share certain similarities. First of all Hegel and Tang try with these two concepts to evolve every possible shapes of consciousness (Hegel: Gestalt des Bewusstseins ) or horizons of world (Tang Chun-yi: 境界 ), and to evaluate them. Secondly, their theories can be subsumed under a common model of theory, namely Henology (en kai pan ) [ 一即一切 ]. Henology is a kind of model against Aristotle's Ontology. There are many representative thinkers of Henology both in Western (Plotinus, Stoic, Spinoza) and Eastern ( 程顥、華嚴宗 ) culture. This paper is divided into four parts: (1) a detail analysis of Spirit and Mind on both sides; (2) Hegel's view of his own tradition vs Tang's view of European tradition; (3) Tang's and Hegel's view of Confucianism (4) how to judge different evaluations of above parts, if their statements are in contradiction.
