I am honored to join the learning and research community at CUHK in Fall 2026, having recently completed my PhD at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My research lies primarily in social and political philosophy and ethics, though I also think occasionally about questions in metaphysics and the philosophy of language, particularly social metaphysics and the social and political philosophy of language. My work on justice and legitimacy strives to be empirically informed and practically useful under non-ideal conditions, and I tend to approach these issues through the lens of social norms, gender, education and, most recently, algorithms and AI. Drawing on my background in psychology and the social sciences, I welcome interdisciplinary collaboration and remain interested in experimental philosophy. I am also deeply committed to teaching.
My first peer-reviewed publication, “Education for Robust Self-Respect in an Unjust World,” received the Outstanding Paper Award from Educational Theory and the North American Association for Philosophy and Education. My work in progress on social norms and justice was awarded the Gerald Gaus Memorial Essay Prize by the PPE Society.
Outside of research and teaching, I enjoy singing, swimming, exploring Hong Kong’s spectacular landscapes and hanging out with Mochi, my cat. I am also learning to make films, music and communities.
