The Classics in our Cultures: Ethics, Knowledge & Philosophy. How can we make them speak to us today?

German and Confucian Classics represent major narratives of European and Chinese Culture. They signify the metaphoric framework of self-reflected normativity and circumscribe how we refer to fundamental conceptions, such as what is Right, Good and Beautiful.

This talk will introduce an emerging study, a deep hermeneutic exploration, cross-cultural comparison and assessment of contemporary significance. Under conditions of globalised modernity: are the Classics obsolete or even more significant than ever?
