Abstract:
In The Origin of our Knowledge of Right and Wrong (1889) Franz Brentano offers an epistemology of value. Its keystone claim is simple: emotions can provide us with knowledge of objective value. But although emotions can provide us with knowledge of objective value, they don’t always do so. How can we tell the difference between the two cases? In this paper, I will consider Brentano’s answer to this question.
