Brief Biography

I studied Mathematics at CUHK in the eighties.  In the second term of my first undergraduate year, I took the course “Introduction to Philosophy” offered by the Department of Philosophy, and found Philosophy extremely interesting.  I then chose to minor in Philosophy and took, or audited, many courses offered by the Department of Philosophy.

After obtaining my bachelor and master degrees (both in Mathematics) from CUHK, I went to study Philosophy at University of Sussex in England.  My doctoral dissertation is about Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus.

My research areas include Wittgenstein’s Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Epistemology, Philosophy of Logic and Philosophy of Science.  Sometimes I also write academic articles on issues in Chinese Philosophy.

I joined the Department of Philosophy of CUHK in January 2011.
